1. Develop a commitment to regional partnerships to implement the strategy, maximising use of existing resources and external funding opportunities.
2. Actively promote and develop the Murraylands recreation, sport and open space assets in order to increase their contribution to the economic growth of the region.
3. Ensure that communities have access to viable and high quality infrastructure through the planning and development of facilities that limit duplication and encourage resource sharing.
4. Develop a regional approach to the promotion of participation in active recreation and sport, including participation in unstructured and nature based recreation.
5. Enhance active recreation participation and equitable access to recreation, sport and open space for youth, older people and the indigenous community.
6. Enhance awareness of and access to the region’s open space attractions for the regional community and tourists.
7. Promote awareness of and access to the region’s open space attractions for the regional community and tourists.
8. Promote awareness of and access to the River Murray, Lakes and Coorong and ensure recreational use by locals and visitors is environmentally sustainable.
9. Develop and promote trails through a coordinated approach.
In order to implement the strategy the Murraylands Recreation, Sport and Open Space Strategy a Steering Committee has now been formed to oversee the implementation of key actions outlined within the strategy.
Representation on this committee includes the 5 Local Councils, the Murraylands Regional Development Board, the Hills Mallee Southern Regional Health Service, the Office for Recreation and Sport and the South Australian Tourism Commission.
