Top level Regional Initiatives Early Intervention


The Early Intervention program provides allied health services to children up to the age of eight years who have a delay in reaching the developmental milestones of early childhood.

The program employs speech pathology, clinical psychology, physiotherapy and occupational therapy staff who provide a range of services including:
  • early childhood developmental assessments and screening,
  • the preparation of individual care plans and counselling for parents to assist the family in promoting childhood development,
  • individual therapy sessions for children
  • a large range of group programs for children with similar developmental needs.
  • advocacy support for in working with other agencies providing services to children.

Early intervention staff are employed at each of the three community health centres in the region and can be contacted through the local community health contacts.
